Fire destroys interior of local building in San Marino

A Tuesday fire caused about 22000 in damage to the interior of three offices at 1461 San Marino avenue in San Marino. The blaze, fed by heat and confined largely to the rear, took fire crews over two hours to extinguish with a suspected smoldering cigarette or appliance as the initial ignition.

Bents Gift Pipe Organ To Pomona College

Generous support from Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Bent of Cumberland Road funds a pipe organ for Pomona College men. Installed in Frary dining hall, it is restricted to informal recreation and not for classes. The Bents memorialize their sons, with Bent Foundation supporting botany professorship.

Lynn B McClain of Twin Palms drive is named assistant comptroller of the American Telephone and Telegraph Company in New York effective January 1 announced by Pacific Telephone. A native of Sweetwater Tennessee McClain 48 has headed Pacific Telephone Southern California accounting for over 2300 staff and bills disbursements and other accounting tasks. He attended Davidson College and Emory University Law School before joining the industry in 1928 with Chesapeake and Potomac. McClain active in community affairs as division chairman of the Community Chest and adviser on California Institute of the Blind matters with the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce. he and wife Margaret have daughter Marilyn age 14.

Funeral services for Mrs Crete McCracken who died December 3 at her Oak Grove home in San Marino were held Monday at the Freeman Chapel of the Pasadena Presbyterian Church. Survived by Frederick W. San Marinan Cited as Scholar of the Second Rank at Yale
