Daylight Shell Station Holdup and Stolen Car Crash
A 60 dollar cash heist at the Shell station on Huntington Drive occurred when a young man feigned a gun and locked the attendant in a back room. A stolen 1941 Buick Sports Coupe later crashed on Euston and Hampton Roads, injuring the driver who sought hospital aid. The suspect was described as about 23, 124 pounds, pale, wearing a gray-green jacket.

Victory Booth Seeks Photos of Local Servicemen
The San Marino Woman’s Club Victory Booth at Security First National Bank invites residents to submit photos of family members in the armed services. Photos will be returned after Christmas and used in decorations to promote Christmas bonds. The group has already wrapped 100 gifts for hospitalized soldiers, 50 for Corona Naval Hospital convalescents, and 10 for the Lacy Park Searchlight unit.

Legion to Hear Veteran of Bomb Missions
Captain Eugene Wallace, veteran of numerous bombing missions in the South Pacific, is the San Marino Post 239 American Legion speaker for the December 14 meeting at 7 p.m. in the San Gabriel Country Club. Wallace, a Los Angeles native, was shot down on his second mission over Rabaul. two crewmen were killed, two captured, two died of fever, and he and another man spent 11 months in Japanese territory before rescue. He is now assigned to recruit Air WAACs and serves as an advisor for a 20th Century-Fox film. A large attendance is expected per program chairman Howard A. Miller.
