Kruse Secures Hole in One at Alhambra Club

Drive improvement group formed in San Marino

A new Huntington Drive Improvement Association of San Marino was formed at a San Marino City Club meeting led by Larry Shepard. The group aims to study plans and problems affecting Huntington drive and to advise citizens and the City Council, with officers elected and representatives asked to report back to their organizations. A meeting with the mayor, City Council, and a regional planning commission representative was requested to update the status.

Building Permits Hit Record Low in November

New construction slumped in November as total permits dropped to 165 717 dollars. Four new residence permits totaled 89 290 dollars, with eleven alteration and additions totaling 16 189 dollars. Plumbing and heating contracts reached 42 268 dollars and miscellaneous permits 17 971 dollars.

San Marino Opens New Public Library to Large Crowd

About 1000 people attended the opening on Monday from 3 to 9 pm at the corner of West and Huntington drives. Nearly 400 youths joined parents in touring the modern building with its two main rooms and smaller offices, while bouquets from local and distant libraries and firms added a festive touch. Notable guests included Miss Doris Holt, Hes ter M. Pot, and Althea Warren, with telegrams from Marjorie Brune and Mabel R. Gillis. Fern Parks of San Gabriel supervised refreshments.

Post Office Extends Hours for Christmas Mailing

The San Marina post office will stay open longer starting Monday December 10 to handle holiday mail. Regular hours will be 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 6 p.m. on Saturdays for stamps and parcel acceptance. registered or insured mail should be sent between 6 and 8 p.m. to reduce waits.

Mae C Moore Dies After Brief Illness in Los Angeles

Mae C Moore 66 a resident here for eight years died Friday at Methodist Hospital Los Angeles after a two hour illness. She was born in Rosedale Kansas and is survived by daughter Mrs Virginia Berry of 1965 Robin Road and several siblings in Kansas City. Funeral services were held Tuesday at Wee Kirk of the Heather Forest Lawn with interment there.

Lundgren Named Post Office Superintendent

Lundgren promoted to superintendent of the San Marino post office by Pasadena postmaster R Holmquist. He began in Chicago in 1929 as a letter carrier, moved to Pasadena in 1945, served as assistant superintendent under Robert Mooar, and was acting superintendent before this promotion. Howard Sheets named assistant superintendent with 28 years in Pasadena.

The first Taft for President Club organized last Friday night at Ferguson's. Harvey Stewart of Puente was elected chairman. Officers include E. Q. Postal Receipts in San Marino Up Again in November

Postal receipts in the San Marino office rose seven percent in November versus 1950, with income reaching 11,402 dollars. The prior year’s figure was 10,647 dollars, a gain of 755 dollars, according to Superintendent Marshall E. Lundgren.
