USC Receives 5 Million Gift for Alzheimer's Chair
Selim Zilkha and Mary Hayley pledge 5 million dollars to USC Keck School of Medicine to endow a chair in Alzheimer's research. The gift lifts Zilkha's neuroscience giving at USC to over 30 million, supporting groundbreaking work and a plan for prevention and treatment by 2025.

San Marino Debating champs to showcase talents Dec 13
San Marino High School hosts a Champions Showcase in Neher Auditorium at 7 00 p m on Friday December 13. The SMHS Speech and Debate program with over 100 members, coached by Matt Slimp, is ranked eighth in California and last year won the National School of Debate Excellence Award. Ten students will present platform or interpretation pieces. Admission is free and refreshments will be served.

Christmas Around the Drive Set for Friday December 6
The annual Christmas Around the Drive event in San Marino runs Friday from 5 to 8 30 p m. Santa arrives on Old Engine 1 at 6 p m near the San Marino Fire Station. Trolleys shuttle families along the drive between Del Mar Avenue and Bedford Road with carolers, a petting zoo, puppeteer, balloon artists, face painting and crafts.
