Antonovich names Kathy Crow chief deputy

More than 1,000 spectators hailed Mike Antonovich at his swearing in as Fifth District Supervisor. San Marino resident Kathleen Crow began her new post as his chief deputy, one of the few women in the role. She previously led the San Marino Women’s Club and served as California Republican Women board member and on the San Marino Board of Education.

Chamber Receives San Marino Community Chest Gift

John W Devereux, chamber head of solicitations, has asked local businessmen to back the Community Chest drive. The San Marino Chamber presented a $100 check showing business backing as Larry Goodreau, acting president, reports $30,000 raised toward an $78,450 goal and urges residents to mail pledges to the San Marino Community Council at P.O. Box 8407. Last year only 20 percent contributed while the 27 agencies will benefit from this year’s campaign.

Reward Offered for ARCO Slaying Information

Atlantic Richfield pays a $25,000 reward for information leading to arrest and conviction in ARCO station killings. Three informants share the payout for clues on the August 9 1979 San Marino ARCO robbery that killed Julius Goodson, 4, a 2 year employee. Suspects Carlo L. Co Albert Ahmad Clark were convicted, with James J. Stevens convicted of Conspiracy. Waters who provided key details received $15,000. ARCO notes 28 months and $67,000 paid to 27 informants as part of its Crime Deterrent Program to curb station robberies and violence.
