San Marino High School hosts Career Day organized by the career center. Students rotate through four chosen fields for half hour sessions with experts and Q A discussions. Barbara Rice notes the event aims to spark interest and provide first hand information on future job opportunities.
Bronze and sterling silver medallions with the city seal and bicentennial legend are available now for delivery. They can be bought as collector coins or pendants for bracelets necklaces or key chains. Special orders may be placed for gold medallions and delivery is in plastic gift boxes.
Soprano Heidi Nitze with pianist Margaret Singer present an Early American Song Recital in the Huntington Library seminar room. The program features songs by Hopkinson Hewitt and Billings among others with pieces spanning popular political and religious themes.

Baroque program titled Christmas in the Baroque Style features Chancel Chorals with soloists organ and orchestra at 7 30 p m Sunday December 7 in the San Marino Community Church sanctuary. The concert includes Vivaldis Gloria in Latin and Buxtehude Advent music with English translation of the German text. Roger L Winter is minister of music.
The San Marino Community Council reports 35.7 percent of its $55,000 Chest drive goal raised in week nine, totaling $30,215.00. They keep expenses under two percent, crediting volunteers Jon J. Stevens, Mrs. W Barret Brown, Mrs. Roy E Maginnis, Mrs. Jon B. Young, Mrs. Donald Macfarland, and David A. Latham.
Residents attended the San Marino Unified School District Board meeting on November 25 to hear the Citizens' Finance Study Committee report. The discussion focused on upcoming financial challenges for the district and possible funding needs for future school years.
The San Marino Chamber of Commerce hosts a social mixer for business and residential members today from 5 to 7 p.m. at 2310 Huntington Drive in the Shepard and Morgan Co offices. A one time admission fee of $2 is charged. refreshments are served. Non members may attend.
Stoneman parents join San Marino teachers in voicing opposition at the Board of Education meeting. The study committee proposed three cost cutting avenues including closing Stoneman School and shifting kindergarten through fifth grade populations, amid a projected district deficit.

She notes community support, taxpayer backing, and the link between school quality and property values, appealing to homeowners and realtors alike.
