San Marino Red Cross drive tops goal with 969 members

San Marino reports final figures for its first annual Red Cross roll call showing 969 members contributing 5700 dollars. John A. Barton treasurer and John P. Whitmore general chairman praised Mrs. E. C. Myers roll call chair and workers. Whitmore thanked the San Marino Bank and its manager Barton and lauded local newspaper support.

San Marino Boys to Appear on Coast-to-Coast Radio

Three San Marino seniors Donal Duncan Norman Schieber and Tom Smith will join a coast to coast program Education for National Defense on Saturday December 6. The four minute segment on aviation careers will air at 9 a m over the Columbia network. They prepared with a Lockheed Aircraft Burbank tour under Principal Elmer J Erickson and will be introduced in Washington D C by John Studebaker United States Commissioner of Education.

Realty Board Dinner in San Marino Elects New Officers

Retiring San Marino Realty Board president Miss Jessie Williams hosted a crepe suzette dinner at Pierre's for members and their wives. F. L. Montgomery was elected president with L. E. Shepard as vice president and William Hitchcock as secretary. Installation planned December 15 in Pasadena with 13th district officers.

Measles Day in Valentine Schools With 33 Cases

Valentine School reports 33 measles cases this week amid board discussion of contagious disease in local schools. Superintendent E. C. Neher noted prior months' cases including mumps in Huntington and measles in Valentine, with toxoid immunizations given to 31 Stoneman and 78 Valentine pupils. Community use of Huntington School as a center highlighted.

The San Marino Girl Scout House addition was dedicated Sunday with 15 troops and 295 members, as Mrs. Mc Clarty Harbison praised the debt-free wing. Cars Overturned In Monterey Road Crash Injures One

At 2 15 p m Sunday a dramatic collision at Monterey road and Wemberly drive left both cars on their sides. Robert Cornet of 1975 Shenandoah and Larry Murphy of Los Angeles were hospitalized after the rear impact. Murphy declined further care and wished a military hospital transfer. Fifteen minutes later a second crash at Wilson and Huntington drive involved Ernest Kollman of Pasadena and Charles Follis of Altadena with both vehicles damaged but no injuries reported.

Dr P Martin Baker of San Marino Community Church speaks at the joint Huntington and Valentine P T A meeting in Huntington School Auditorium at 2 pm Tuesday December 9. The program features tableaux with music and verse by Huntington Glee Clubs and the eighth grade under Kenneth White, with over 100 children. Local musicians provide Christmas music and a book exhibit aids gift selection. Tea served by hospitality chairmen and mothers from the kindergarten and eighth grades.

Battlefield of Near East Described at San Marino Legion Meet

A firsthand account of North Africa and Near East battle conditions will be shared at the San Marino American Legion Post meeting. The speaker, a former New York newspaper man and wartime naval officer now based in Egypt, will speak after the 7 o'clock post dinner at the San Gabriel Country Club. Two free Rose Bowl tickets will be drawn at the event.

Mrs Nina Remy Dies After Brief Illness

Mrs Nina N Remy of 2360 Adair street died early Monday at St Luke s Hospital Altadena after a three day illness. She was wife of Clayton L Remy factory manager of U S Rubber Co and mother of Dorothy a Huntington School sixth grader. Survived by mother Nora McGaffick two sisters and a brother. Funeral services were held at 10 30 yesterday morning at Wee Kirk O the Heather with Forest Lawn in charge.
