Small Theft During Week In San Marino District
Burglars struck three homes in San Marino area over Thanksgiving week. Colonel James R. Pourie at 1201 Winston avenue reported a porch screen cut and door hinges removed, with a stolen lady's wrist watch valued around 25 dollars. Glove and shoe prints found, plus a modified Billy club recovered near the scene. A new Vaughan home at 1900 Kerns avenue lost two stand basins worth 70 dollars. A theft from Ruth Hempstead at Huntington School involved a brown leather purse with about 20 dollars in a school parking lot.

Plumb Home Mourns Loss Of Baby Virginia Plumb
The home of Mr and Mrs B Plumb Jr at 1725 West Haven road mourns the loss of their year old daughter Virginia who died Monday after a seven week illness. She had been hospitalized and received multiple blood transfusions. Funeral services were held at 2 PM Wednesday at Our Saviour in San Gabriel with Turner Stevens and Remy of South Pasadena directing.

Nature Lover Returns From New Zealand Visit
City councilman and Huntington estate superintendent William Hertrich and his wife returned from a two month trip via Honolulu Sa moa and Fiji islands spending most time on New Zealand's North Island. They logged over 1800 miles visiting Wellington and Auckland noting rolling terrain green pastures with 20 million sheep, 50 inches of rain yearly and remarkable tree ferns. He called the trip educational and enjoyable and stayed in a different hotel each day.

Gopher man Hernandez struck down in bicycle collision
Delphino Hernandez a 49 year old city worker known as the gopher man was hit by a car driven by John Leonard Jongsma at Huntington Drive and Waverly Road. He was taken to Alhambra Emergency Hospital and then Alhambra Hospital with a badly sprained back and severely bruised knees. The accident occurred at 10 15 AM as Hernandez reportedly began a left turn and the car skidded 81 feet. Hernandez employed by the city for eight years resides in Glendale and the driver was not held responsible.
