San Marino Veteran Enrolls in U.S. Foreign Service Course
Ed ward Bruce Ferguson, 21, of 2046 Oak Knoll Avenue, a World War II veteran, is a member of the George Washington University 12 week intensive Foreign Service review course under the GI Bill. From 700 applicants, he joins peers studying diplomatic history language economics and international relations with a faculty including Washington figures and media commentators. Ferguson born in Hollywood married, previously at the University of California, Navy service as assistant gunnery and fire control officer aboard a destroyer in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. His second career aim is Overseas Work with an airline.

The Henry E. Huntington Library and Art Gallery trustees met on August 28 at San Marino. Robert A. Millikan chaired with Herbert Hoover and others present. The annual report showed 112000 visitors, a pre war reservations system restored, robust research activity, and overseas collaborations. Gifts included a Flemish tapestry, a miniature portrait, camellias, conifers, and a Gutenberg Bible facsimile, plus manuscripts and western materials from California collectors.

California Taxpayers Association reports San Marino elementary district spent 149.85 per pupil in average daily attendance for 1944 45, up from 127.07 in 1943 44. Teachers salaries averaged 97.49 per pupil, with other current costs at 52.36, and ADA 1074. State support rose from 66 to 80 per pupil. Proposition No. 3 seeks 120 per pupil, which the association says would raise district expenditures.

Local Matron Badly Hurt In Pacific Electric Car Crash
Mrs Nell Bradfield of 1410 Bellwood Road was seriously injured when a Pacific Electric car started suddenly at 4 30 p.m. Monday. She suffered a cracked vertebra and was taken to Huntington Memorial Hospital where her condition was described as serious. A group of passengers who had just left the car were listed.

Crissman Returns From Trinidad Navy Seaman Discharged
Norman Robert Crissman seaman second class in the United States Naval Reserve was discharged at Terminal Island after six months overseas in Trinidad. A 19 year old son of Mr and Mrs Robert J Crissman of 1339 Windsor road he studied at Pasadena Junior College and did pre radio training in Chicago. He earns the American Theater ribbon and the Victory medal and plans to resume his education after high school in South Pasadena San Marino.
