Foundation Urges Stating Of Goals At San Marino Board
Lois Matthews president of the San Marino Schools Foundation urged a visionary public statement from the San Marino School Board to excite donors. She outlined goals in curriculum development faculty enhancement and capital improvements including foreign language elementary expansion arts and a librarian. Burglaries Reported in San Marino Last Week
Two burglaries were reported in San Marino last week one at a residence on Sussex Road where about 200 dollars in costume jewelry was taken after entry through a rear door and another at Sontre Hair Salon on Mission Street where about 250 dollars in cash and checks were stolen. suspects may have used a key to enter the salon. The Third Huntington Symposium on Succulent Plants will be held Saturday Sept 20 at the Huntington Library Art Collections and Botanical Gardens with experts including Nobel laureate Melvin Calvin and David Hunt. about 100 attendees are expected. advance reservations contact Koutnik.

Court Upholds City Police and Fire Tax in San Marino
The State Supreme Court unanimously ruled that San Marino’s Measure No. 1 police and fire parcel tax is not ad valorem and remains legal under Proposition 13. The four year 6.2 million dollar assessment funds paramedic, police and fire services, with a renewal measure set for November as Proposition EE.
