Preston L Hill a second lieutenant in the Air Corps is on duty at Will Rogers Field in Oklahoma City Oklahoma. He received his commission in California July 1 1941 and reported to the Oklahoma City air base July 23. He is the son of R A Hill of San Marino and a Pomona College graduate with a 1939 BA and a 1941 MIT MS in meteorology. More than 100 officers and 1500 men are now on duty at the base with a planned strength of about 3500.

County will set a 1941-42 basic tax rate of 1.4679 per 100 dollars of assessed value, about one percent lower than last year. County manager Col Wayne R. Allen said no extra funds will be issued for unemployment relief. San Marino tax figures show per capita levies rising from 21.16 in 1939 to 22.64 in 1941, with a three cent decrease anticipated next year.
