San Marino police recovered two handbags wrapped in a wet dishcloth near 1416 Wilson Avenue. The bags belonged to Mrs. Ada E. Anderson of 322 North Second Street Alhambra. The purses contained roughly five dollars in value and were returned to the owner before a theft report was filed.

Huntington Library Aide Anthony Gabler Dies at 46
Anthony J. Gabler of Pasadena died at his home August 17 after sixteen years of service at the Huntington Library where he rose from assistant cataloger to head of the reference library. A World War II vet, he compiled a pre 1801 English newspapers checklist in the Huntington Library bulletin. Survived by his widow Nelle H. Gabler and sons Robert and Leonard. Services were held at Forest Lawn.

The home of John M. Barbour at 560 Allen Avenue was broken into between noon and 5 40 p m Tuesday, with entrance via a pried screen and patio window. Drawers and furniture were rummaged though losses were not confirmed as the owner was away. Fingerprints were recorded and officers search for the offender continues.

Girl Taken By Death After Short Illness
Charlotte Lorenz, 17, a South Pasadena high school graduate, scholarship society member for three years, and UC Berkeley applicant, died after a month long illness at 1675 Bedford road. She leaves parents LeRoy and Mrs Lorenz, a brother Howard 15, sister Peggy 13, and grandmother Mrs Perry Williams of Pasadena. Funeral services will be private.
