The San Marino Public Library will close from Monday August 30 to Monday September 6 for annual housekeeping. Staff will clean files discard dated books rearrange furniture and update systems. Visitors are urged to stock up on reading materials before August 28 and return items via the book drop during the closure. The library reopens September 7 at 11 a.m.

San Gabriel Boulevard and Gainsborough Drive burglaries mark a three month wave with 14 total crimes in the city. On Aug 20 a home on San Gabriel Blvd was entered through an unlocked door. valuables valued at 2500 dollars were stolen. A Gainsborough Drive remodel site yielded a watch camera VCR and television also valued at 2500 dollars. Two wrought iron gates were stolen from a Berkeley Avenue residence, valued at 2000 dollars. Police pursue the possibility of a single thief or group.
