Mrs. C. R. Richards Dies After Lingering Illness
Mrs. Charles R. Richards Irene F Richards of Arcadia died after a two and a half month illness. Services were held at Wee Kirk of the Heather with Rev Bertrand Rist officiating and interment at Forest Lawn. She had 79 years in Iowa before moving to California in 1944 and resided in Arcadia four years. Survived by son Carlyle F. Richards and two grandchildren Carolyn and John.

Electric Rate Boost Not To Exceed 40 Cents
Allan W. Laws of the S. C. Edison Co. said the monthly domestic electric rate increase in San Marino would not exceed forty cents. A 25 KWh bill would rise from 1.29 to 1.68, 40 KWh from 1.93 to 2.26, and 100 KWh from 3.81 to 4.00, with smaller rises for higher usage.

Funeral Services for Ward Wooldridge Held in San Gabriel
Services for Ward Potter Wooldridge were held Tuesday, August 17, at the Church of the Recessional in Forest Lawn. He died Sunday. He lived in San Gabriel for two years after moving from San Marino. Survived by wife Adrianne and children Terry Nancy Jeffrey, mother Mrs Edina Wooldridge, and sister Mrs Fred B Weigle.

Water Rates Boost Approved This Week
The California Public Utilities Commission approved rate hikes for water in the San Gabriel Valley and Norwalk areas. The California Water and Telephone Co. gains 107000 dollars annually, raising 30 to 75 cents per month for about 11152 customers across San Marino, San Gabriel, Rosemead, Temple City, and nearby communities. Southern California Water Co. gets a 57600 dollar increase affecting roughly 16000 customers in South San Gabriel, Florence Graham, Artesia, South Artesia, and Norwalk, adding 18 to 57 cents monthly.

MWD Reduces Tax Rate Two Cents for 1954 55
For the fifth straight year the Metropolitan Water District lowers its levy from 25 to 23 cents per 100 dollars assessed value for 1954 55. Of the 23 cents, 16 cents cover interest and principal on Colorado River aqueduct bonds, while 7 cents fund additional district needs.
