The South Pasadena City Council on August 13 fixed a tax rate of $1.74 per $100 assessed valuation for 1941 42, unchanged from last year. Total city tax requirements amount to $181,687.14, up from $177,038.74 this year, following first reading of an ordinance to raise funds for city departments.

The Metropolitan Water District will reduce the district tax to forty eight cents per $100 of assessed valuation for 1941 42 benefiting San Marino and other member cities including Anaheim Beverly Hills Burbank Compton Fullerton Glendale Long Beach Los Angeles Pasadena Santa Ana Santa Monica and Torrance. Some cities may cover all or part of their levy from municipal utilities revenues. San Marino and South Pasadena host the fourth annual model airplane meet on Saturday September 13 at Lombardy and San Gabriel boulevard. Robert Holmes a two time winner is expected to compete with a new design. The event sponsored by the San Marino Recreation Department draws a larger crowd and adds a scale model contest for Army type planes in three rubber powered divisions with entry blanks at Henry E.
