The California Pacific International Exposition announces the Ice Skating Carnival will run to August 26 with Wayne W. Dailard confirming continued showings. James P. Britt of the California Consumers Conference warns that November tax proposals would raise living costs and hurt retail business. He calls hidden taxes on everyday goods a public enemy to the family purse and urges voters to vote no without full tax plan details.
G W Weatherby district passenger agent for Southern Pacific Co says extra trains handle large eastern tourist parties and total summer travel to Southern California is heavier than expected. New York and Chicago agencies report heavy arrivals with four Chicago bureau trains carrying 200 plus travelers each and more trains planned. A motion picture magazine has sent three special trains, and other agencies report weekly groups from the East. Individual travel to Southern California cities has risen sharply.
