Police report a break in at 1120 Huntington Drive between 11 p.m. and 2:30 a.m. Tuesday into the grease rack area. A small thief pried the grill, damaged a pay phone, and rifled the cash drawer and cigarette machine, netting about a dollar and some snacks before fleeing.
The San Marino Tribune publishes addresses of all precinct polling places for the August 30 primary along with election board inspectors clerks and judges. County registrar William H. Kerr notes this notices print in 95 Los Angeles county community papers under 1937 legislation. Not all local office addresses or party affiliations are listed. supervisors may add them later.
The city of San Marino advertises in the San Marino Tribune for bids on four police cars three platform trucks for the park department and a radio system upgrade. The City Council authorized the additions on Wednesday August 10. This will make police equipment city owned rather than personally owned by officers.

The Department of Motor Vehicles announced apportionments for the second quarter of 1938. San Marino will receive 132.94 dollars, while Los Angeles County gets 29,810.97. Total county allocations reach 76,633.44 and city allocations total 153,266.87.
Gale Westerdoll son of Mr and Mrs Arthur Westerdoll of 2655 Huntington Drive was awarded a two year scholarship to the Marta Oatman School of the Theatre in Los Angeles. He earned the award after a KHJ Career Builders interview on August 8 joining five other finalists from 350 letters. Gale will begin training September 6 and is noted for roles in San Marino Studio Theatre and South Pasadena High School productions including Dulcy Louder Please Common Clay Who's Your Father and Through Time Darkly.

Fitzgerald Engineering and Construction Company won the bid for extending California Street east to the city limits. The $5232.36 contract starts immediately and will take three months to complete to finish before the rainy season.
