Two More Eagles From San Marino Troop 358 Court Honors Author
Patrick Taylor and Brent Waldo were named Eagle Scouts on July 11 and July 1 2005 respectively at a Boy Scout Court of Honor. Patrick started as a Cub Scout in San Marino earning Arrow of Light and held leadership roles in Troop 358 earning 23 merit badges and renovating a playground for his Eagle Project. Brent began as a Cub Scout in Pack 264 at Clairborne School earning Arrow of Light and served as historian and patrol leader in Troop 358 with 35 merit badges. his Eagle Project refurbished exterior areas of Oak View Room Building at Oneonta Congregational Church. Both scouts pursued interests in engineering, biology, and college plans at UCLA and the University of Michigan.

Two San Marino Girls Earn Girl Scout Gold Awards
Kami Lennox and Heather Wong earned the Girl Scout Gold Award on June 26. Lennox created an Emergency Operations Center project to clean the neglected city hall center and plans to lead Tyler's Team to aid Leukemia research while pursuing arts and drama at San Marino High School. Wong produced three science resource binders and a Junior Science Day program, stars in SMHS Chamber Choir, and volunteers at Arcadia Methodist Hospital ER.

Blecksmith Award Honors Valentine Elementary Students
Valentine Elementary fifth graders Hannah Tandon and John Silk earned the first J.P. Blecksmith Award for citizenship and patriotism at a June campus ceremony. Blecksmith, a former Valentine student, attended Flintridge Prep and joined the Navy, serving as an officer after his graduation and appointment to the Naval Academy.

The San Marino Chamber of Commerce has purchased the 70 year old San Marino Directory from Gloria Hooker and plans a January 2006 first edition. Advertising and updates closes in November as the chamber pledges profits back to local scholarships and civic events while addressing potential trademark issues with a rival directory.

Echoes of Polynesia at San Marino Public Library
