Capehart Re-elected to Big Brothers Board in Los Angeles

Cohen Retains Academy Membership After Continuing Education

Dr. Melvin Cohen maintains active membership in the American Academy of Family Physicians by completing the required 180 hours of accredited continuing medical study every three years. The academy, founded in 1947 and based in Kansas City Missouri, helped establish family practice as a primary medical specialty in 1968. Cohen and his wife Barbara live on Monterey Road.

Albie Booth is named vice president and manager of Wells Fargo Bank personal banking. Olson Named To Arbitrators Board In Arbitration Group

Ronald L. Olson of Lorain Road was elected to the American Arbitration Association Board of Directors. He is a partner at Munger Tolles and Rochter Shauser in Los Angeles and a Drake University Rhodes finalist and three year football letterman. He earned his law degree from Michigan in 1966 and holds offices in numerous professional and community groups. He chairs ABA special committee on alternative dispute resolution and sits on the council of the litigation section. He writes on litigation and dispute resolution and lectures frequently.

San Marino adopts 1983 84 budget with state aid boost

San Marino Unified School District approved a 7,771,747 expenditure plan for 1983-84 plus a general reserve after SB 613 provides per pupil funding for instructional materials and deferred maintenance. The San Marino Schools Foundation pledged 300,000, and the budget includes long term maintenance funds and a raised teachers salary schedule.

Water pressure drop on Oak Grove Avenue during repair

Residents on the 1500 and 1600 blocks of Oak Grove Avenue lost three quarters of water pressure Monday as crews repaired a major service line broken the day before. Police noted undermined street at the break while company spokeswoman Sarah Bowe said pressure remained until work began. California American Water excavated and replaced the affected pavement section.
