Orlowsky Receives Doctor of the Year Award

Gene Orlowsky of the GEO Chiropractic Clinic in San Marino is named Doctor of the Year by the San Gabriel Valley Chiropractic Society at their annual awards dinner at Arcadia's David Copperfield's Restaurant. The honor recognizes outstanding chiropractic work and community service. Orlowsky also serves on the San Marino Rotary Club board and the San Marino Chamber of Commerce board.

Local residents Pearson and Marshall elected Heart Association officers

Richard J. Pearson and Norman S. Bicyclist Brad Banta Traces 600 Mile Summer Bike Trek

Brad Banta of Oxford Road completed a 31 day bicycle trip through Yellowstone Grand Teton Glacier Banff and Jasper National Parks. Eighteen riders aged 15 or 16 joined eight boys two girls and two adults. They started from San Marino at 3 30 a.m. and traveled by van to the starting point. The group tested gear and safety rules before the ride. Brad served as chief mechanic carrying tools and handling repairs.

More Arrests Made Serious Crime Falls In July

San Marino police chief James Moore reports July Part I crimes fell to 25 from 32, with 49 arrests in July up from 37 in June. Theft drops, residential burglaries rise to five, and one automobile burglary noted. Total Part I crimes year to date 185, dollar losses 223,718 with 60,197 recovered. Part II offenses down to 72, drunk driving down to three, speeding down to 108, and total moving violations 219. Traffic citations 900, parking tickets 665 in July, with 3,684 parking citations through July. Five July accidents involved injuries, one fatality, total accidents 168 for the year so far.

Student Goes Surfing at Caltech SURF program

Theron Stanford of San Marino joins Caltech undergraduates in the Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship program. He will spend 10 weeks working on a project titled Generalized Identities of Arithmetic Functions with Professor Tom Apostol. Stanford is a math sophomore among 130 students chosen this year.
