Ronald Stever of 1940 Lorain Road earned membership in the Million Dollar Round Table by selling one million dollars in life insurance and annuities in twelve months. He is district manager for Equitable Life in Pasadena and plans a September trip to Cape Cod and Boston for the group’s meetings, with a stop in New York and a Panama Canal return. Only about 100 men nationwide reach this honor each year.
San Marino adapts to adult city responsibilities with strong studio activity. The San Marino Studio Theater has closed plays for next season but stays active with meetings, a move to a new Monterey Road location, and plans for three Sunday teas featuring one act plays or musical entertainment. Los Angeles Euelah H Smith 626 W 116th Street to build a one and a half story home at 22325 Lorain road costing 7560. J Margaret Roberts 620 S Ardmore road to build a seven room two story home at 2114 Roanoke road costing 11268 with contractor Wilbur M Gilbert Glendale.
John Hamilton the Republican National Committee chairman will address the Hollywood Bowl on Saturday evening. An old-fashioned torch-light parade precedes the address with C Elmer Anderson directing Rose Bowl parade elements, covered wagons, horse and wagon units, Ken Maynard’s Cowboy Troupe, and local Republican units. Admission is free.
The City Council refused the permit to build a film house at the corner of Huntington San Marino and Ridgeway avenues after property owners protested. H H Watson of Fox West Coast asked about plans for a theater east of the Snodgrass Building and was told to submit plans for review after addressing parking concerns.

Clara Belle Jessup widow of Robert Johnson Jessup and Pasadena resident for 20 years died at 1146 Avoca St August 10 1936. She was born in Springfield Mass descendant of Daniel Webster and survived by six children including County Supervisor Roger Jessup. Funeral at Wee Kirk o the Heather Forest Lawn followed by interment. arrangements by C Hal Reynolds and John W Eberle Mortuary.
Bob Riddell made a hole in one on his first golf game at San Gabriel last Sunday week. The ball traveled 178 yards from the 14th tee to the green and dropped into the cup. The editor notes two prior holes in one by Riddell at Bannockburn Chevy Chase Maryland and Virginia Country Club near Washington.
Nelson B. Crow editor and publisher of the Western Live Stock Journal of Los Angeles recuperates at home in South Pasadena after a major operation at Queen of Angels Hospital. He will be bed-bound for several days and is a former charter member of the San Marino American Legion Post. He and his wife have four sons and a daughter.
W P Whitsett outlines rapid progress on the Metropolitan Aqueduct from the Colorado River. He notes lower costs, 8000 workers from Parker Dam to district cities, and a 227 mile transmission line delivering 36 percent of Boulder Dam power for pumping plants.
In a July 17 editorial titled Railroads and Rail road Week we misidentified the owner of the Canadian Pacific Railway. The piece should have stated The Canadian National Railway, not CP, and noted CP did not put the Government of Canada in the hole.
