San Marino Receives Custom Velcro Backboards for Paramedics
Fred Kroesche, a San Marino resident and longtime LA County lifeguard, built seven color coded Velcro backboards for local paramedics after observing less effective equipment. With help from Andy Dunlap, the boards are larger and elevated for damp ground, secure supports, and rapid readying. In a mock drill, Mayor Lynn Reithover was strapped in 28.7 seconds, validating the design.
