Local Lions club members have expressed thanks to Alma Jensen proprietor of San Marino Pharmacy for graciously hosting weekly meetings at his Mission Street store. The club plans to vote and perhaps invite him to receive the appreciation in person at the next regular meeting.
The city council voted to abandon the California street proceedings after protests and lengthy debate. Residents asked about annexation to San Marino and Plymouth road residents sought details on the Los Robles assessment district with costs totaling about 21 000 dollars, of which 9 000 would be county allocated.
Huntington Library reports a weekend total of 689 visitors on Sunday and 803 on Saturday. Nature Study club of Los Angeles contributed 121 admissions and a large ABA group joined Saturday crowds for tours of the Japanese Gardens. The July total nears 13,000 with August expected to top July. Gallery closure in September likely boosted later attendance.
