San Marino police report July sees a rise in Part 1 crimes led by residential burglaries with five offenses. The department also made 32 arrests in July, up from 27 in June, and recovered $28,945 in stolen property with outside agencies contributing $48,550 for the year.
Susan R. Pettis of San Marino High School finished a six week Honors Workshop for High School Teachers of Mathematics and Science at Harvey Mudd College. Forty one teachers lived on campus weekdays under director John B. Rae with faculty from Harvey Mudd and The Claremont Colleges. The program, funded by NSF ARCO W M Keck foundations and Northrop Corp, aims to boost math and science education nationwide.
Raymond J. Cisowski was appointed vice president finance and controller of The Doctors' Management Company, a subsidiary of The Doctors Company. He joined in 1981 as controller, previously worked with Swett Crawford, Reinsurance Facilities, and Signal Imperial Insurance. He holds a Canisius College accounting degree and is active in professional groups. He resides on Roanoke Road with Ada and their two children.
The St Luke Foundation and executive director Nancy Spelke received a $5,000 grant from the Fritz B Burns Foundation via trustee W K Skinner and director Richard Dunn. The gift aids a two year campaign aimed at $750,000 for capital equipment and building needs at St Luke Hospital.
Lyon Tracy D. of Grand Central Public Market Los Angeles and Kuneman Eugene a pediatrician now staff psychologist file as candidates for the upcoming San Marino School Board election. Lyon, a long time San Marino resident and ROTARY member, attended local schools and served in the US Air Force. Kuneman, all year resident, has worked in forensic psychiatry and special education, with ties to Arcadia Mental Health and Los Angeles County Jail. Their children attend San Marino High School and Carver Huntington schools.
The filing deadline for a candidate on the up Board election was extended from tomorrow as the board and officials discuss delays and terms. The extension aims to accommodate late applicants and ensure adequate candidate participation.
Michael Rupert, Broadway veteran and Star of Sweet Charity at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, discusses his multiple homecomings to Southern California. After years in New York, he buys a Studio City condo and tours San Marino friends during the seven week run, reflecting on returning to his high school roots and the transition from stage to classroom life.

July police statistics list serious crimes including residential burglaries auto burglaries and thefts of $200 and over along with auto thefts and arrests. Property loss value estimated at $156,243 for 1985.
San Marino reported four hit and run incidents last week though police later adjusted to three. First, Tracey A Waldrop of Pasadena was arrested for leaving a collision at Huntington Drive and Gainsborough Drive after hitting Ta Ting Kan of Covina. A later incident on Huntington Drive and St Albans Road involved a white car with no suspect description. An 8 year old girl alleged a bicycle collision on Duarte Road and Hillard Drive but police later ruled it a lost balance and fear. A vehicle on Oak Grove Avenue was struck by a hit and run noted in police reports. Police and Pasadena authorities also searched for a suspect after a Ralphs parking lot robbery on Huntington Drive and San Gabriel Boulevard dated July 2.
The San Marino High School Class of 1975 schedules a 10 year reunion with a picnic at Garfield Park on Aug 3 at 3 PM, a reunion dinner at the San Gabriel Country Club, a Sunday brunch at Howes residence, and casual champagne brunch.
