Woman Kidnapped and Robbed in San Marino Car Lure

A local woman, Pearl R. Schmidt, 67, was persuaded into a large black car by two women on San Gabriel Boulevard and Duarte Road. After about 20 minutes of driving, authorities say the suspects released her without further harm. Rings valued at 400 to 500 dollars were targeted. Police seek more information. A separate report notes attempted auto thefts on Blackstone Road and a felon with a firearm arrest of Sean Patrick O Hara, 37, in Pasadena.

L Sherman Telleen Named Managing Director at Scudder Stevens Clark

L Sherman Telleen is appointed managing director of Scudder Stevens Clark a major independent investment counsel firm. He joined in 1956 and serves as director of the Los Angeles office with an MBA from Stanford 1956 Chartered Financial Analyst and Chartered Investment Counselor designations. The firm founded in 1919 operates offices in Los Angeles Boca Raton Boston Chicago Cincinnati Cleveland and other corporate affiliates.

Destino Files For San Marino School Board Candidacy

Destino 41 and partner at McCutchen Black Verleger Shea said he will run for the San Marino School Board. An 11 year resident, he helped form the San Marino Schools Foundation and aided PT Affiliates summer school details. He and his wife Joan live on Huntington Drive with son Donald, a San Marino High sophomore, and Cassandra, a Carver School fourth grader.

Pinsky describes study in Spain to San Marino Rotary club

Miss Pinsky of San Marino spoke last Thursday about her year studying in Spain at the University of Barcelona and research in Spain's economic relations. She noted study across six countries, including Leningrad, Bologna, and Johns Hopkins, and said she will work as a consultant on the Spanish economy in the south western region of France.

Mixed Reactions at Cal Am Rate Meeting in San Marino

Cal-Am faced mixed reactions after outlining an 18.6 percent rate increase request over three years at a nearly 24 hour session held in the Little Theatre of San Marino High School. Graves, formerly with Kingsville ISD, will join August 12. She oversaw budgets and areas Dellinger managed, bringing strong educational finance experience and computer skills to advance district business office computer applications.

Recreation Department Sign Ups Still Taken for Red Cross Swim

San Marino Recreation Department continues sign ups for two pre sessions of Red Cross Swim lessons at San Marino High School pool. Pam Simpson and volunteers will register young swimmers on dates including tomorrow 10:30 am to 1:30 pm and Monday 9:30 to 11:30 am, plus Friday Aug 16 10:30 am to 1:90 pm and Monday Aug 19 9:30 to 3:30 am.
