Elizabeth Lindell reports that eight years after opening the Brea Community Center its doors stay open and programs run at full capacity. Attendance has grown from about 3,000 weekly visitors in 1997 to roughly 9,000 in 2005, with fitness classes often drawing 30 to 35 participants. The center is described as hugely successful with limited space for new programs.
Huntington Open House May 4 marks the unveiling of Brea's two year project a fully equipped community center with a two court gym banquet hall indoor soccer and hockey spaces a complete workout facility aerobics rooms babysitting two children's activity rooms Teen Zone and multiple classrooms. The center designed to meet recreation art social services and childcare needs earned an Athletic Business Magazine Facility of Merit Design Award. Derek Slater Teague Hoof Andrew McCarthy Ian McCarthy and Ryan Domier all earned Eagle in a January 29 2005 Court of Honor at Huntington Middle School. Each scout completed extensive merit badge work service projects and leadership roles while attending San Marino High School.
