Jann of Sweden Sheds Old West Charm At San Marino Barber Shop

Jann Eldnor of Sweden, San Marino’s longtime barber at 2130 Huntington Drive, celebrates 30 plus years running The Cowboy Hall of Fame shop filled with saddles and wagon wheels. The 58 year old immigrant earned Rose Parade fame since 1990, counting Merlin Olsen and Ronald Reagan among nearby clientele. He promotes cowboy living, rides horses with his family, and jokes about cutting Los Angeles Ram hair. The shop, opened after arriving from Stockholm in 1970, is said to be the town’s oldest barber shop.

San Marino Police Seek Baker to Vegas Sponsorships

The San Marino Police Department plans to join with San Gabriel, South Pasadena, and Sierra Madre to form Quad Runners for the 2002 Baker to Vegas relay. This 120 mile race from Baker, California to the Rio in Las Vegas features 225 teams. The department seeks financial support to compete.

San Marino Planning Commission will hear a report from a citizen steering committee at the April 23 meeting in council chambers starting at 7 00 p m The nine member group spent 23 meetings drafting amendments to the citys General Plan and guiding future decisions The plan addresses land use housing safety open space conservation circulation and noise The active plan drafted in 1973 has seen limited updates since 1995 and the steering committee led by Bob Nida Dennis Kneier Jerry Hawk Myra Lee PLAN concludes its draft ahead of the hearing.

McGrath to Address San Marino GOP Luncheon in April

Dr. Roger McGrath will address the Republican Club of San Marino at their April 16, 2002 luncheon at the Ritz Carlton Huntington Hotel in Pasadena. He will discuss My Heroes Hollywood and Political Correctness. McGrath taught at UCLA for 15 years and is an Outstanding Professor. he now teaches at Cal State Northridge and serves as a captain in the Naval Detachment of the California State Military Reserve.
