Jann of Sweden Sheds Old West Charm At San Marino Barber Shop
Jann Eldnor of Sweden, San Marino’s longtime barber at 2130 Huntington Drive, celebrates 30 plus years running The Cowboy Hall of Fame shop filled with saddles and wagon wheels. The 58 year old immigrant earned Rose Parade fame since 1990, counting Merlin Olsen and Ronald Reagan among nearby clientele. He promotes cowboy living, rides horses with his family, and jokes about cutting Los Angeles Ram hair. The shop, opened after arriving from Stockholm in 1970, is said to be the town’s oldest barber shop.

Huntington Library Utility Tax Issue Sparks Council Debate
The San Marino City Council revisited a decade old dispute with Huntington Library over a 5 percent utility surcharge. Huntington pays a $4,000 annual fee instead of the expected $50,000, while proposing a $7,000 fee to replace 1992 terms. The library also contributes via book sales and permits, but residents enjoy free grounds for community events, reducing revenue. Council members worry about underwriting a large institution as the city faces a $1 million budget gap.

History vs Hollywood on Patton film truth
A History Channel review notes that truth is often sacrificed for drama in Patton. It contrasts the film with documented incidents, including Patton’s restraint of a malingering soldier and a swift kick for another, while praising his care for wounded soldiers. The piece ends with a notice that the Sam Marino School District offers tours of its new high school on Saturday April 27.
