YMCA Raises Over 140000 In Local Fund Campaign
South Pasadena San Marino YMCA reports more than 140000 raised in the Current Support Campaign led by executive director Bob Warnock and general chair Steve Shelburne. The drive surpassed the 135000 goal and drew 220 volunteers contacting nearly 5000 people, firms, and groups for 1997 programs.

Mail Boxes Etc in Huntington Drive opens until 11 p.m. Pasadena Main Post Office and Arcadia Main Post Office stay open until midnight, San Marino Post Office until 5 30 p.m. Clerks offer certified and priority mailing and stamp sales. some locations will collect and postmark returns at scheduled hours. Postmaster urges filing before the April 15 deadline.

San Marino Resident Leads Cal Phil Foundation Debut
San Marino resident Davies named head of the Cal Phil Foundation ahead of the much anticipated Arboretum concert series this summer. Davies and his wife Joanna have two sons, Sebastian and Alexander, and hold dual British and U.S. citizenship. He studied at London University, UW, UC Berkeley, and Harvard. Maestro Vener, a Pasadena resident and USC graduate, founded Pasadena POPS and has conducted widely. He has received an Arts Council grant and a Gold Crown Award. See Cal Phil, page A-4.
