The Rotary Club awarded Paul Harris Fellow honors to Wray and Jeanne Cornwell at the annual Foundation luncheon in Friends Hall at The Huntington Library. Ownbey praised their civic work with the Friends of the Library and Old Mill Foundation. The event featured remarks from Cornwell and a rebuttal by Rotary Foundation Chair Bob Eichel. Rotarian Allan Wolff attended with daughter Tracy LaVal shortly after his wife Frances’s passing.

San Marino School Board Judges Athletics Boost Plan
The San Marino School Board held a late month study session to explore expanding the athletic program through facilities staffing and other measures. Principal Loren Kleinrock spoke of a return to glory as the Titans eye more CIF banners, noting community desire for higher competitiveness and strong school spirit. The Schools Foundation is reviewing athletic facility priorities as a possible joint effort before a 6:00 p.m. follow up session and upcoming board meeting.

Huntington Middle School parents and friends enjoyed a western themed evening at the San Gabriel Country Club. Troop 358 Rides In Charity Tour De Palm Springs
San Marino Boy Scout Troop 358 and several fathers joined 6000 cyclists in the Tour de Palm Springs benefiting the Arthritis Foundation and other local nonprofits. The 55 and 100 mile routes traversed the Coachella Valley with 40 degree start and 80 degree finish. Scouts described challenging climbs and teamwork at rest stops led by Scoutmaster Aaron Weiss.
