City earns large insurance premium rebate for San Marino

San Marino received a 68 599 rebate from the Southern California Joint Powers Insurance Authority. City councilman Joe Lewis, a board member, says San Marino has one of the largest dividends among 35 member cities. The self insurance program saved the city over 300 000 in three years while maintaining claim controls. The fund backs coverage for employees with a reserve exceeding one million dollars. San Marinan William A Hasler named partner in charge of Peat Marwick Mitchells New York consulting unit. He is Pomona College and Harvard Business School trained and a Huntington Library Fellow. Also named were Walter Psaila as senior vice president at United California Bank and David Fusco as senior vice president at Security Pacific National Bank. Louis Foods Faces Year of Frustrations and Repairs

San Marino Student Drake Stimson Wins Rotary Contest Prize

San Marino High School junior Drake Stimson won first place in the local Rotary Club speech contest, earning 100 dollars. He spoke on What the Rotary Four-Way Test Means to Me and will present at the district conference in San Diego where a 100 dollar savings bond awaits. Sam Marino entrants included Ron Odom Lisa Jackson and finalists. Stimson previously won in Claremont against nine speakers from Rotary districts in California and Arizona. He plans to study business and law at Harvard or Cornell and pursue corporate law. Coach King Stewart has a history of producing state and national finalists in speech and debate. The program emphasizes preparation, organization, and strong advocacy.

February Crime Summary From San Marino Police

The February report shows 41 arrests including 36 adults and five juveniles and four FBI offenses. Theft over $200 occurred 11 times with one cleared. burglary had 16 residential cases with none cleared. Total property stolen last month was $12,275.

Society To Honor Rousselot For Fostering Community

The San Marino Historical Society will honor Representative John Rousselot for his lifelong work fostering community heritage at its annual awards banquet at 6:30 pm on Thursday, April 23, at the Athenaeum. The event honors his career as a San Marino native and congressman, with toasts to Rousselot and his wife Yvonne, and includes remarks by Mayor and Mrs Lynn Reimour.
