Las Palmas Offers Free Summer Language Camp Amid Budget Cuts
Las Palmas Elementary runs a three week, free summer camp funded by the PTA and donations to keep students in a two way language immersion program engaged. Principal Kristen Nelson notes no district summer school and emphasizes maintaining English and Spanish skills before the new school year. The camp, run by teachers for hundreds of students, runs mid July to early August and cost about 4500 to operate.
