San Clemente to Saints center de la Puente earns NFL note
San Clemente product Brian de la Puente, now with the New Orleans Saints, helped protect Drew Brees as he broke the NFL single season passing record with 5,087 yards. The 26-year-old former UC Berkeley guard earned the starting center role after an early-season injury. His family in San Clemente and supporters in OC celebrate his breakout, while recalling his circuitous path through multiple NFL teams.
