San Clemente loses 40-foot Aleppo pine Christmas tree
The ailing 40-foot Aleppo pine at the Community Center lawn was cut down after heavy limb failures and bark beetle infestation. City officials consider replacement options, including transplanting a large tree or planting three 48-inch box trees to form a conical display in four to five years. Rod's Tree Service removed the 1966-planted landmark, with about 5,000 pounds of limb safely taken down.
