San Clemente duo raise meals for Somalia aid drive
Ray Meltvedt and Mike Crary flew to Mogadishu in July with 10 armed guards to distribute food through FeedingSomalia.org. They spent about $5,000 each on the trip and raised over $100,000 for shipping and supplies, delivering about 196,782 meals and restoring water for 25,000 at a refugee camp. They bought food locally with no overhead, worked with Somalia Community Concern, and plan to return next year at their own expense.
