He fought in the Mier expedition of 1842 was captured by Mexicans on Christmas Day that year and escaped that night with a comrade named St Clair. He later served with Capt Ross at Double File crossing on the San Antonio River near Towns mill in 1846.
John Mc Laughlin a railroader missing for two years was found by Officer McDaniels this morning wandering into town in a ragged suit. He could not be sure of the man at first but was identified by the foreman of the H and C shops and others. Two months' pay McLaughlin left behind on disappearance was found in a dusty envelope at the paymaster's office. Authorities believe he is suffering an hallucination.
Doc Sauls sent two trainloads of fat cotton-fed cattle to St. Louis yesterday, the finest cattle this season. Weekly shipments to continue from Georgetown from now on until 1,500 cattle are shipped. Mrs D Harris, Masonic district lecturer, left for Llano to lead a six day school and will lecture a week in Joppa, Burnet County.
Sheriff Erickson arrested Fritz Arnt in Houston on murder charges for poisoning his wife and four children in Waller County 21 years ago. One child died, another survived. Arnt fled to Mississippi and later returned to Houston seeking valuable property, identified by his stepson Henry Woldt who was six at the time of the crime.
