The Havana province insurgents concentrate near San Jose de Las La jas.
New York Herald reports from Rio Janeiro that the Italian minister presented strong claims for outrages against Italian subjects. Alleged violations occurred in Matto Grosso during Brazil’s recent revolution under President Peixoto, with redress demanded from Brazilian authorities.

In Buffalo on February 11 Bob Fitzsimmons won a court victory when Justice Childers granted a petition directing about 250 dollars be paid into court during a quarrel that broke up the partnership between the boxer and his former manager Captain Chas Glori. He then returned the money to Fitzsimmons.

The Northwestern Miller reports weekly flour output for four centers led by Minneapolis at 176,156 barrels and a total across all centers of 256,260 for the week ending February 6, 1897. Domestic sales were heavy, exports limited, with prices steady and bran up. Freight rates weaken, domestic trade slight. foreign demand weak, Europe needing 69.5 million bushels.</S>
San Francisco February 11. Dan Stuart proposes a big live bird tournament open to all comers during the week before the Corbett Fitzsimmons bout. Prizes of about 1000 dollars each will be offered. Stuart says Carson City is the favored battlefield as negotiations continue with Carver and Budd in Kansas City.
