Girl's Hard Luck With Suitors

Special to the Sunday Light from El Paso Texas: Victoriano Laiba, a ranch worker eight miles from the city, mortally wounds his sweetheart Sarah Fianes at her home and then commits suicide with a Colt six shooter. Laiba had been an ardent suitor but had been rejected. the girl had earlier been wounded by another jealous lover a year before.

Winthrop faction selects delegates in Bexar County primaries

The Winthrop faction of the Republican party in Bexar County held primaries across almost all city precincts and selected delegates to the county convention at Mission Garden next Wednesday at 11. Delegates were instructed to vote as a unit for Lyon as state chairman, and to support Lyon’s re election. A long list of delegates and two year chairmanships across precincts 1 through 32 is provided.

Delegates Chosen by Both Factions at Bexar Republicans

Over 250 Republicans from Green and Hawley factions met at old Convention Hall to select delegates for the county convention on August 26 at New Market. Dr J F Walton elected temporary chairman with C G Clifford as secretary. A 12 member committee named delegates including George Schmidt, G W Huth, Albert Meyer and many others. Dr Robinson endorsed as county chairman for two years. Meeting adjourned after routine business.

Packers Dispense With Many Employes
