Unpopular Buttons at Union League Club Reception

New York on September 30 reports that campaign buttons bearing Roosevelt Taft Hughes will not be worn by guests at the Union League Club reception for the Republican candidate next Tuesday. Chairman Wilcox of the national committee was advised that buttons should feature a single candidate. Roosevelt allies say the event aims to honor Hughes and not reconcile Roosevelt with Taft, despite their renewed public appearance since 1912. Roosevelt believes five sixths of Progressives favor Hughes and predicts the Republican triumph.
