Army man to head municipal rifle range project
The War Department will be asked to detail a seasoned non- commissioned officer to command Rock Quarry park rifle range, supervise five targets, and aid erection. City officials and General Guessar reviewed safety measures, proposing trenching a 2 1 2 foot soft rock cut to drain into a ditch, raising target faces eight feet above ground, and eight feet of masonry protection. A timber and rock asphalt barrier atop the bluff may also be built to further reduce stray bullet risk.
