Courageous Turkish Soldier Sacrifices Self in Retreat
Sept 28 report from Cal. X Fourth Division notes a Turkish soldier and hero, Nazim Bey, who saved Gen Temet Fasha’s forces by covering a retreat. He died after two days of fierce engagement, wounded twice, and his last words honored bravery. Remaining officers and the broader battle involve Greek forces and a rear assault near Teutabia.
