Indigent Care Costs Challenge Bexar District
Bexar County Hospital District executives briefed 15 county officials on funding indigent care for out of county residents. The district faces about 930,700 in hospital bills this year for 840 patients from 26 counties. 497,003 paid, 433,700 written off. Proposals seek larger multi county districts with proportional taxes to cover indigents, while preserving local control concerns.
