Seized Liquor Crowds Out Corpus Board
In Corpus Christi on September 20 the liquor control board lost office space as courthouse rooms filled with seized liquor. OPA accused Supervisor W R Stierling of selling bottles above ceiling price, but state law requires selling to the highest bidder. With no storage or disposal options allowed, Stierling began collecting liquor, becoming keeper of keys to all closets and cabinets filled with items from orange gin to rare Scotch.
