October 9 Declared Fire Prevention Day by Governor
Governor Ferguson proclaims October 9 as Fire Prevention Day urging statewide cooperation from Mayor Brown and citizens. He notes Texas suffered about 13 000 fires last year causing 16 million dollars in losses, equating to 4 per capita or 20 dollars per family, and argues 79 of 100 fires are preventable. He calls on schools to teach fire safety methods.
