Expert Tells Snake Facts At Brooks Field
Col Martin L Chramins, a San Antonio herpetologist, debunked myths about snakes before the 10th Air Force personnel at Brooks Field. He said hair ropes do not deter rattlesnakes, rattlers can escape coils and prickly surfaces, whisky worsens bites by speeding heart action and blood loss, and bite bleeding differs by venom. He urged vigilance, wearing trousers over boots, and noted fangs grip loose trousers but not boots.
