Plan To Move Food To Needy In Washington
Washington September 14. Ways of moving surplus dairy products from farms to the needy are being worked out by the farm adjustment administration and Harry L Hopkins. The relief administration has already contracted to buy pigs and sows slaughtered in the hog reduction campaign. Butter poultry and eggs now in storage may follow, with a price stabilizing plan via a new dairy wholesaler corporation. The government promises about 30 million dollars to dairy groups to make purchases, repayable through a penny per pound processing tax. Butter is likely to be bought if prices stay around 24 cents a pound, potentially moving millions of pounds to relief at reduced prices.
