Public office woes tied to weighing duties
Andy Blevens public weigher of Precinct 1 told the county commission Friday he lost about 55 in two months due to the job. He urged prohibiting private firms from weighing, citing April state law that only public weighers and deputies could handle the work. He noted a court ruling 10 days earlier allowing a private firm to weigh after a $2500 bond was posted. Commission member Sam Anderson pressed for an opinion, but Stevens warned against it and urged sticking to the bond issue.
