Connally to Push Cotton Policy in Congress

Senator Connally of Texas pledged a strong fight for cotton in the upcoming Congress session. He argued cotton deserves special treatment as the only major agricultural commodity not aided by tariffs and criticized the loan rate set by Secretary Wallner, preferring 10 cents a pound to better support the market.

Tobacco and Ice Classified as Beer License Additions

The Liquor Board considered tobacco and ice as commodities for human consumption by beer dealers seeking supplementary licenses starting October 1. The license is needed to legalize daily beer sales until 7 p m and Sundays, with food and other goods receipts. Troops From Border Posts Arrive for Camp Bullis Tests

Troops from cavalry posts on the border will reach San Antonio Monday to participate in tests of the proposed new infantry division at Camp Bullis. Units from Fort Brown Fort Clark Fort Bliss and Troop A Armored Car Squadron join the Monday arrivals. Additional troops will arrive September 8 9 and 10.
