Solar Eclipse Costly Expeditions Questioned
The costly solar eclipse expeditions, spent near seven million dollars, face scrutiny at the International Astronomical Union session at Harvard Observatory. Preliminary reactions from Canada to Maine say the latest eclipse, the first visible from the US since 2017, was disappointing due to clouds, with Japan’s Alfred observatory noting partial success. The event highlighted international science cooperation and the need for methods to study the sun without total eclipses, especially at Mount Wilson.
