In Brooklyn an engaged couple suffered rapid deaths after the mother Mrs Gruminger died following a spell of heart paralysis, her husband Conray Gruminger dying hours later. Edward Grominger, set to wed that daughter, had learned of postponement. The couple were 50 and 38 respectively. A Candy Store advertisement closes the fragment.
The September 1 Grand Army parade featured a Fort Mets dedication and a parade of 3600 local members. Marching units included Cherry Pickers from the Wiks, Knights of Pythlann, Knights of Haccabeece, and National Veteran Women of America, with 450 Toledo Newsboys as guides and two Polish-American units in uniform.

Mexico City September 1. A vast dam on the San Fernandez canyon, 40 miles up the Naied river from Torreon, is planned to irrigate Gomez Palacio and Lerdo and surrounding districts. British engineers Peargan and Bon lead the project for a $42,000,000 scheme financed by the Mexican government and London firms. The dam promises extensive water supply, turning the Laguna district into a major agricultural area, dependent on mountain rainfall and river flow for decades.
A rash of burglaries hit three streets with only one success. A 435 gold worth booty was taken from a home on Cadwallader Street. A thief escaped after tripping on a rocking chair at another house. Neighbors report multiple break-in attempts and fear more burglaries as residents arm themselves.
An unknown white man leapt to halt a runaway charcoal wagon on Anst[y and Houston streets, saving three little girls who narrowly escaped being struck. The owner, L. D. Roberts, was nearby. the man was arrested on a charge of leaving his seat untied, but the incident prompted debate over liability as the horses bolted for about nineteen blocks.
New York court heard evidence from Dr. T Van Gleason that Mrs. Hitchcock was hypnotized to obtain her confession. He described inducing a semi conscious state with formaldehyde and dictation by a stenographer. Mrs Hitchcock recalled a plan to fake an alibi and claimed her husband shot himself after a staged crime. The judge ruled mental condition to be considered as it stood at the time of the shooting.

Bir and Myre H R Geyer and their two children escaped serious injury when an auto driven by Ed Ruethfeld collided with their surrey on the loop road Sunday night. The surrey was wrecked, the Geyers and child were treated for injuries, and the horse was killed. Mrs Geyer says the driver of the other car swerved and struck them while attempting to pass. The family and machine are under local medical care and repair.
Mrs Sh G Peterson and daughter May Paterson of 1129 South Presa faced a frightening Sunday trip from Corpus Christi. The child left the train at Station and wandered away, prompting an overnight search before reuniting at a farmer's home. The mother cannot explain the disappearance and warns of kidney trouble signs, recommending Foley's Kidney Cure.
At a meeting of the Hiedlavtory 7 the Buennese Blen a chib secretary Carrington was granted a two week vacation and named as a delegate to the Commercial Secretaries convention. In Fort Worth on September 9 the Pearce was named a delegate to the Gulf Waterway convention in Chicago October. Invitations to Read delegates to the Southern Commercial Secretaries convention in Washington and the Trans Misssissippi Congress in San Francisco were not acted on.
