Olia Mae Trowbie Dyal 50 of 104 Faster Avenue San Antonio a civil service employee for 30 years will have services at Porter Loring chapel Thursday at 4 p.m. Survivors include her mother Ika Lee Dyal and Eula Bemus, Florence Coleman and E M Dyal plus siblings from San Antonio Eureka Houston. Interment at Mission Burial Park.
Chicago authorities sought a street car crew after Patek Rogers aged 58 was killed when he tried to stop a trolley by stepping into its path. Rogers, anxious about being late for work, told his sisters he would stop the next car. His sisters Grace Vandergreest and Ruth Schrankel testified before a coroner's jury.
The Texas National Guard announced appointments on Thursday naming William H. Joyner Jr. as platoon leader of AM. P. company in the 20th division. Cyl W. Heiikamp of New Braunfels was assigned to Iq. and Hq. Battery of the 155th Field Artillery.
Capt Sidney A. McDonald, a veteran with 25 months of South Pacific combat duty, is assigned to the ROTC in the San Antonio Independent School District and will soon report to a high school to take over the training program. The focal ROTC unit has six commissioned officers. Capt Harold A Porter and Col Harry Knight are the other two already assigned, with Colonel Knight expecting the remaining three officers shortly.
